The purpose of the training is to create lifelong students of Yoga who continue to learn by sharing with others. The philosophy of the course is Samkhya, the traditional teaching that underlies the practices of Yoga. The roots of the term Samkhya are sam, “to know,” and khya, “distinctly.” The style of hatha is therapeutic, meaning, the teachers in training will learn to instruct to the needs of the students. Within that objective, the students will be expected to present and critique series of poses throughout the length of the training.

History

The style of Brahmrishi Yoga is inspired by the teacher, Brahmrishi Vishvatma Bawra (1934-2002). Devhuti studied with him annually from 1982 until his death in 2002. The emphasis is on knowledge as the basis of practice. The traditional knowledge of Samkhya, enumerates Energy and emphasizes the illumination of Consciousness. The structure of the course will follow the principles given in the Kapil Sutras, Tattva Samasa. The purpose of hatha yoga is to prepare the body and mind by creating a balanced condition of sattva that allows for a deep inward focus in meditation.

Course Structure

The training is presented in two sections, two series of weekend workshops, with required classes between the sections for assimilation of the material. The content and hours conform with Yoga Alliance standards for registered schools. BYTT is a local training and has been offered in Kent and Akron. The course is available to the greater Cleveland and Akron areas.

Thorough teaching!

Yoga is enormous. I have more than I thought I would ever get…and I barely have the tip of the iceberg.

This training provided food for the soul – a good balance between challenging and nurturing.

I made great steps toward my own goals with the help of the course.

There is no training as authentic as this one – unique and powerful.

Margot’s enthusiasm was contagious and she cared deeply about all aspects of the training from anatomy and alignment to philosophy.

The solid depth of knowledge and understanding made this a rewarding experience.

She doesn’t just teach yoga, she sees us! – from a 14 year old student

Thank you for helping me to become stronger, happier, healthier, and more peaceful.
